Live music for venues in Newcastle and the North East
If you run a bar, restaurant, hotel or function room and you want live music on a regular night, we can sort it. Proper Mint is a live music agency based in Newcastle. We book solo acts, duos, trios, bands and DJs for venues across the city and the wider North East, and we look after the whole thing, from the first booking to paying the act.
What we supply
Solo acoustic sets suit smaller rooms, quieter dinners and Sunday afternoons. Duos and trios give you more energy without taking up the floor space. Full bands and DJs work for weekend nights, functions and anything where the room needs filling. We'll talk through the room, the crowd and the budget before we suggest anyone, and we'll send you promo images and a video so you can hear them first.
Weekly slots or one-offs
Most venues start with a regular night, whether that's a Thursday or a Saturday. We build the diary around your opening hours, keep it topped up, and find cover if an act drops out. If you only want music for an occasional night, a party or a bank holiday weekend, that's fine too. There's no minimum commitment.
We handle the booking side
You deal with us, not a list of acts. We confirm the act, send the timings and details to both sides, keep the diary up to date, and pay the acts directly. You get one invoice a week for the nights that have been played. If something changes on the day, you ring one number and we sort it.
A promo page and posts you can use
Every venue gets its own private page listing who's playing and when, with act images and showreels in one place. For social media, copy a ready-made caption and download the promo images in a tap, so you're not chasing acts for content on a Friday afternoon.
Where we book
Newcastle city centre and the Quayside, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, Tynemouth, Whitley Bay and across Northumberland. We take bookings further afield for events too, so if you're just outside those areas, ask anyway.
Questions
How much does live music cost?
It depends on the act, the line-up and how long they play, so we quote each booking on its own. Tell us your budget and the night you have in mind and we'll come back with options that fit it. There's no charge for asking.
How far ahead do we need to book?
For a regular night, a few weeks is usually enough. For a band at short notice, more like two to four weeks, and longer around Christmas and the summer. If you're stuck for this weekend, still ask. We keep an eye on who's free.
Can we try one night first?
Yes. Plenty of venues start with a single date before committing to anything regular. We'll set one night up, you see how the room takes to it, and then decide.
Do you supply PA?
Most acts bring their own PA and lighting for the size of room they're playing. If your venue needs something bigger, or the act is travelling without kit, we can sort it. Tell us what you've got and we'll work around it.
